March 21, 2017

I am still quite new to being a school mum, with my eldest in Year 1 and middle in reception. But I am still feeling the effects of ‘school uniform’ on my boys’ wardrobe. The six year old has clothes for the weekend but come half term and holidays I can’t wash fast enough to keep up with his needs! And the youngest of the five has hit nursery just as they introduce a uniform policy which is great because I don’t have to think about his outfit in the morning but it means he has all of his brother’s hand me downs and I cant close his drawers for all the overflowing clothes. So it is time to Spring Clean for one and shop for the other. Having thought long and hard about it this is my capsule collection for SS17 which includes the following mantra ‘one on, one in the wash and one back up’:

1x Jeans

We are big fans of the Swedish brand I Dig Denim but I am going to invest in Someday Soon this season as I love this dark denim.

3 x Pairs of Bottoms

Trousers / Tracksuit Bottoms. I love this colour from Milk & Biscuits

3 x Pyjamas

Four out of 5 boys got a pair of these over Christmas and they are in the sale! But we also have some great new designs from The Bright Company and Sleepy Doe - have a look here

2 x Shorts

I will probably increase to 3 if and when the weather gets warmer but we also have old jeans that I will cut at the ripped knee

4x Long Sleeve T-Shirts

Mine often won’t wear jumpers so I go for long as I feel they get more wear out of them but some of the FIVE prefer short so edit according to preference

2 x Short Sleeve T-Shirts (see above)

This one continues to be a crowd pleaser. Watch out for our very own Five Boys Clothing t-shirts which we will be launching later this month.

3 x Hoodies / Sweatshirts

I love colour popping sweatshirts, my favourite this season is the Milk & Biscuits Tiger sweatshirt, but Ferdie loves the Someday Soon hoody)

2 x Swimming Trunks

Bright and fun

1 x Waterproof Light Weight

Because you will no doubt always need one and the light weight of SWAYS means boys can still run freely without feeling weighed down

Wellies and 2 pairs of trainers as I never seem to dry the wet ones fast enough and no one likes to wear soggy shoes

At "Five Boys Clothing" we offer as much guidance as possible when it comes to sizing as we know that age is not an exact science when it comes to measuring for the right size clothing.

Any European brands provide a height measurement - and we always attempt to describe the fit. Please find a guide to European sizing below.

The European size is based on the actual height in centimeters, example a size 122 means 122 centimeter, that is for a child in height 122 centimeter each centimeter = 0.39 inch, each inch = 2.54 centimeters

EU Size (cm)

As with all things this is not an exact science. If you normally buy big - we recommend you buy big, and vice versa.

When relevant, we identify whether products are true to size, big for size or small for size.

If you need any help regarding specific sizes please contact us at and we'll get staright back to you.

PS: Don't forget we do offer returns so if you want to try the products we're happy to send them out to you.
